The Australian Rollup is a cool technique in which glass tiles or cane are fused together as a sheet and then rolled hot like a scroll into a tube shape. The tube is then closed off and blown into a bubble. Very fun to do but pretty tough for a solo blower. I've been wanting to make it a little easier on myself by building the tiles differently. Using a fused glass technique called pattern bars, I made a multi-colored square bar and then cut it into cross sections or tiles. I think this has a lot of potential for getting great color density into a single piece. This is the first vase I ever made like this.
Measures 9" high x 5" max width x 3" at the top.
